To conclude the construction of structural component of MUSC Health’s future Clements Ferry Pavilion, leading companies for the project held a topping-out ceremony, placing a steel beam atop the 80,000-square-foot medical building.
Partnering on the project are MUSC Health, Choate Construction Company, The Keith Corp. and McMillan Pazdan Smith, the release said.
As part of the topping-out ceremony tradition, key stakeholders and the Choate project team signed the final beam to symbolize the success of their collaboration and celebrate the progress of the structure.
“We are marking the hard work that has gone into construction of another state-of-the-art addition to the MUSC presence with an invaluable local impact,” Eugene Hong, chief physician executive for MUSC Physicians and MUSC Health, said in a news release. “We are looking ahead to the future – one that is brighter for the people of the community and region, who will benefit from the extraordinary work going on at MUSC.”
The four-story medical office, located on 10 acres at 1101 Waterline St., will offer nearly a dozen services including adult and pediatric primary care, imaging, physical therapy, surgery, and more, according to the release.

“We’re honored to be working alongside MUSC Health and our longtime partners at The Keith Corporation to bring this much-needed medical care facility to the community,” Quinn Balderson, director of business development for Choate Construction in Charleston, said in the release. “The need for better access to quality medical care is great in many of our communities, and we’re grateful to support MUSC Health in its mission of providing best-in-class medical services to those in need.”
The pavilion is expected to open later this year, according to the release.
