One Upstate construction firm has acquired another.

THS Constructors Inc., a design-build construction management firm based in Greenville, has expanded into the Spartanburg market. In a strategic move to position itself for growth, THS has purchased Solesbee Construction and established an office in Spartanburg at 1 Real Estate Way, according to a news release.

Founded in 2005, THS has built a reputation for excellence with a strong foundation in industrial construction, the release stated. While industrial projects will always remain at the core of its operations, the company is broadening its scope to include a more diverse range of projects, the release stated.

“Spartanburg is a thriving market, and we are excited to bring our expertise and commitment to quality construction to this community,” said THS Constructors President and CEO Dana Emberton. “The acquisition of Solesbee Construction allows us the opportunity to expand our capabilities into new sectors and areas of the state.”

Solesbee Construction, established in Spartanburg in 1936, has had a pivotal role in growing the community throughout the years with an extensive portfolio of church, medical, office and retail buildings in the area, according to the release. The previous owner, Tim Thompson, is the grandson of founder James Solesbee and current vice president of preconstruction of THS.

“Since joining THS in 2016, I have witnessed its commitment to excellence in construction first-hand,” Thompson said in the release. “I knew this was the right move for both THS and Solesbee, and we are thrilled to be a part of the Spartanburg community.”

Since opening its doors in Spartanburg and acquiring Solesbee Construction, THS has already secured multiple key projects in the area, including the construction of Xytel, Inc.’s expansion project, the release stated.
