A Georgia construction company has acquired the assets of Greenville-based O’Neal Inc. Engineering.

Carroll Daniel Construction Co. has acquired O’Neal, and the business units of O’Neal Inc. will combine with Carroll Daniel’s existing in-house Engineering and Architecture groups, which will operate as Carroll Daniel Engineering going forward, according to a news release. The acquisition includes the addition of over 100 engineers and support staff to Carroll Daniel’s team.

O’Neal Inc. was founded in 1975 and has office locations in Greenville; Atlanta; and Allentown, Pa. O’Neal offers highly specialized design across a broad range of engineering disciplines including structural, process mechanical, process chemical, piping, electrical, fire protection, automation and process controls, the release stated. The company provides integrated design solutions ranging from programming and design through start-up and commissioning in process chemical, food and beverage, automotive, biopharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, and pulp and paper markets. O’Neal also provides equipment procurement resources and management of associated processes on complex industrial projects.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

As Carroll Daniel Engineering, the business will focus on serving O’Neal’s legacy clients and traditional markets while leveraging synergies with new ownership for additional growth opportunities, the release stated.

Carroll Daniel also acquired three O’Neal subsidiaries in the purchase: Quest Site Solutions, InFab Piping Services, and Bridge Automation. Quest Site Solutions provides site location analysis and selection for public and private clients throughout the U.S. Bridge Automation provides advanced analytic services and development of custom machine learning solutions for industrial process applications. InFab is a piping services company providing design, fabrication and installation as an integrated service for biopharmaceutical, industrial manufacturing, process chemical and wastewater applications.

Through this acquisition, Carroll Daniel’s existing Architecture, Structural Engineering, and Virtual Design and Construction services will be significantly enhanced, the release stated.

“This addition represents a strategic opportunity for Carroll Daniel to expand our engineering resources and provide a full suite of integrated engineering, procurement and construction services throughout the United States,” said Brian Daniel, CEO and president of Carroll Daniel Construction Co., in the release.

Carroll Daniel Engineering will be led by Eldon Gowens, vice president and division manager of Carroll Daniel’s Greenville business unit, according to the release. Prior to joining Carroll Daniel in 2020, Gowens was a vice president with O’Neal and led its advanced manufacturing business division.
