July 13, 2021— Thomas & Hutton is pleased to welcome their class of 2021 summer interns. Interns work and learn alongside Thomas & Hutton’s professional engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and GIS analysts as well as marketing and graphics staff.

Thomas & Hutton’s interns will gain exposure to a wide range of technical and field opportunities by supporting teams on various projects. Interns have the opportunity to apply their skills in site planning or through programs such as AutoCad Civil 3D and the Adobe Creative Suite outside of the classroom in a business setting. Many current employees of Thomas & Hutton began their careers as interns, and have successfully advanced within the company.

David Smith is an intern in our Berkeley County Survey Department. David is a rising senior at the Citadel where he is studying civil and environmental engineering. He has practical experience in the use of GIS software and working with survey equipment. David is involved in the Citadel History Club and Citadel Steel Bridge Team.

Dixon Flowers is an intern in our Charleston Water Resources Department. A rising senior at the Citadel, Dixon is working towards his degree in civil and environmental engineering. Dixon worked as an intern and operator at CR Jackson Contractors in Florence, SC. He is active in the American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter at The Citadel.

John Jordan joins Thomas & Hutton for his second summer as an intern in our Charleston Structural Department. John is a recent graduate of Clemson University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. While at Clemson, John was active in the Theta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Nu, service as Academic and Alumni chair.

Lizzy McClure is an intern in our Charleston Water Resources Department. She is a rising junior at Clemson University where she is studying civil engineering with a focus in environmental engineering. She is an active member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and volunteers with the Special Olympics.

Sam Hearne is an intern in our Charleston Civil Department. He is a rising junior at Clemson University where he is working towards his degree in civil engineering. He is a member of Beta Upsilon Chi (Brothers Under Christ) at Clemson and a regular volunteer as a guitar player in the music ministry at Shem Creek Presbyterian Church and the children’s ministry at East Cooper Baptist Church.
